Our Mini Getaway in Wildwood, NJ

This summer we decided that we would do mini getaway's vs a big trip. For this trip we decided to take the boys to Wildwood, NJ. We have not been to Wildwood in about 10 years. We actually went right before Jay's first birthday so he definitely does not remember. Taking this trip with our family and starting new summer traditions meant the world to me. It brought back so many memories for my husband and myself as we both grew up going to Wildwood with our families. If your not familiar with Wildwood, it is a city known for its resort like feel. You will find tons of motels, hotels, and vacation homes here. It has one of the longest Boardwalks in NJ filled with Arcades, Amusement Rides, Shops, & tons of Eateries. For more info go to Wildwood, NJ.

When planning the trip I knew that I didn't want to stay near the boardwalk. I actually wanted to stay just a little further away in the Wildwood Crest area. The Crest area is so quiet and relaxing. The beach is a lot closer and nicer in my opinion and it was just perfect for how we wanted to spend or mini getaway.

Where We Stood

I came across the Admiral Resort Motel when I was searching places to stay at. When booking places to stay I always look for reviews on cleanliness, amenities, and if they are family friendly. Motels are not always the cleanest and they are definitely far from luxury that's for sure so do your research. The Admiral Resort Motel had some really good reviews and I loved that they had things for the kids to do. There was ping pong, miniature golf, the pool and daily activities for the kids.  The kids loved this place so much and so did we. The beach was literally across the street so we didn't have a long walk at all.

Although the rooms have the option to have a mini kitchen I don't care to cook on vacation. I brought snacks, water, juice and soda to keep in the room but I did not make breakfast, lunch or dinner. So if you want to save money and don't mind cooking then that would be a great option for you. What I did appreciate is that we had a Diner in our Motel, There breakfast was so good and reasonably priced. We also had dinner there and it was ok. The place was nice though and the people were very friendly.

Activities

On this trip I wanted to just relax and enjoy the time with my family so we didn't have crazy plans to do things which was fine. We enjoyed all the activities with the kids at the motel the first day. The kids were so exhausted from the drive and just being in the sun that the first night we stood in.

The second day we did the Bike Rental. I had always wanted to do this and so I convinced my husband and he was all for it but if I were to ask him to do it again he would tell me hell no. lol
The Bike Rental was also across the street from our motel. We paid $40 for one and a half hours and road our family bike all the way to the boardwalk and back. Boy was I sore and tired but we laughed so much and had such a nice time. Bikes are only allowed during the morning till noon. So all you saw on the boardwalk was bikes, walkers and joggers. If you ever go to Wildwood I would totally recommend you do it.

The Beach is FREE throughout all of Wildwood and if you don't want to lug your umbrella and chairs they do have a spot on the beach where you can rent it for the day. We brought our own so I am not sure on the prices. Beach life is where its at. It was so nice and relaxing and not crowded at all. My kids always love a good beach day. They also have a surfing camp so if you have kids that want to learn to surf you can definitely check that out.

We were going to go to the Water Park on the boardwalk but did not get a chance. The kids actually didn't want to go. Shocker right. The prices were not bad for the water park but I did find a deal on Groupon for the water park in Wildwood. So when making your plans to visit always look up to see if there are any discounts before purchasing your tickets.

The kids loved playing the Boardwalk Games & Games in the Arcade. We came home with a ton of prizes from playing the games. They also loved the rides on Morey's Pier. I always love going to the amusement side in the evening because everything looks so nice lit up. There are a ton of more things to see and do with the kids. We kept it pretty chill and just went with the flow of the kids.

Overall we had the best time on our mini getaway and can't wait to do it again next year. If your planning on a Wildwood trip defiantly make sure to do the research on where to stay and also I suggest to book no later then the end of May beginning of June. All of theses places book up rather quickly for the summer. Also calling directly to book your stay can save you some cash as well. Have you been to Wildwood, NJ?

As always Thank You for reading!
