Last week we were invited to attend the bloggers/influencers event at
Medieval Times here in Lyndhurst, NJ. Boy were we in for a treat. After having a King on the throne for 34 years the castle now has a Queen. That's right a WOMAN is now in charge! The show has a brand new story line, beautiful new costumes, some pretty coolnew armor & new music.
Having a Queen on the Throne is a powerful statement. Little girls every where can now see a strong, respected and kind ruler fully in charge of the castle and sole ruler of the land.
The boys were interviewed at the castle upon arrival. They were asked what they thought of a Queen being in charge of the castle and well to no surprise they thought it was great. They also said that girls can also be knights just like boys. I'm such a proud mom. Teaching our boys that everyone is equal no matter their gender, race and color is very important to us. So the fact they answered all by themselves made me extremely proud.
Medieval Times is truly such a fun family experience. The audience participation makes it so much fun. Cheering for your Knight and booing the opponents as your waving your team flag makes you feel as if you have stepped back into time and into a real tournament. Seeing the sparks from the sword fights makes it feel that much more real. The four course feast is super delicious. Did you know that eating with utensils are not allowed? They want you to have the full experience and that you will have. What I really did appreciate was that before the food came out our waiter David asked if there was anyone in our group that had Food Allergies. So I told him yes and he proceed to let me know what food items came from an outside company that is made in a facility that processes peanuts, tree nuts etc. He made sure to also offer a substitute for my son. I feel like all restaurants should be asking the same thing upon being seated. David totally made our experience that much more pleasurable and knowing that they were careful and sensitive to people with Food Allergies made it that much better. The only thing that I would love to see added to the menu is an option of a kids apple juice. I always bring some for my boys as they do not drink soda. So maybe that's something that could be added for kids.
If you have not been to a
Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament you really need to add it to your list to do with your family. You will have so much fun. You will not leave disappointed. I mean who wouldn't want to walk into a castle and see knights, beautiful horses and a Queen. It truly is an experience that you and your kids will enjoy and be talking about for days.
