A Dino-Mite Birthday!
On June 10th we celebrated our Ayden's 3rd Birthday. Where does the time go guys? I was full of emotions because he is just getting so big to quickly. He is such a smart, spunky, sweet & such an energetic little boy. He has been obsess with dinosaurs lately so I knew for his birthday I definitely wanted to do a dinosaur theme. Every year I say that I want to keep things simple and always end up going over board. I have to say that this year I actually kept everything super simple and I was so proud of myself.
As I was searching for dinosaur party ideas I really didn't see anything that I liked or that wasn't too scary. I wanted a fun, simple with a modern feel type of theme. As I was shopping at Target I found a print on a plastic table cover in the party section that I really loved. I basically based my invitations and theme off that print. The colors were perfect and it had his favorite color which is Blue so that made it even better. Now that I pretty much had the theme colors I just needed to incorporate that with some dinosaurs and create an invitation and party decor that would work.
I always go to Pinterest for inspiration when ever I do any type of party planning. I pin ideas and then try to come up with something similar or sometimes even better. I knew I wanted my goody bags to be super different but didn't find anything that stood out. So I had to think out the box. Hmm dinosaur goody bags?!? Yes please!
Goody Bags are Easter Eggs that I bought the day after Easter for 75% off. I sprayed painted them a light teal blue to look like a dinosaurs egg.
Inside the goody bag was a mini bubble bottle, mini play dough and diy dinosaur crayons.
I also had a bucket filled with dinosaurs for the kids to grab and take home. You can find these at pretty much any Family Dollar or Dollar Tree.
On some of the tables I placed some dinosaur foam mask and safari hats to go with the theme.
As you can see I really loved this plastic table cover. Don't worry only two tables, the cake table and the photo booth wall were the only ones with it. All other tables that are not shown were in white and the royal blue to break up the busy pattern.
I decided that I wanted a photo booth wall and so I Googled dinosaur photo booth props and printed some out on card stock and hot glued them to sticks that I found at the Dollar Tree.
The Roar Banner is a chalk board banner I found at Walmart for $2.00. The tassels I had made for his first birthday (The Hungry Caterpillar) and I just happen to save them and use them for different parties.
Ayden's awesome cake was made by my dear friend Natasha (Cake NV) and if you live in NJ please go check her website out. Her cakes are amazing and beautiful.
The mini cupcakes were from Shop Rite. I like to give the kids these because they are easier and less of a mess.
I have to say although I didn't get the amount of kids that were expected it was a great turn out. The kids had a great time even though it was so HOT! Ayden had a blast and loved his dinosaur theme. I think this was one of my favorite themes that I've done.
How many of you enjoy party planning?
