Boys Room Makeover On A Budget!

Hi everyone hope you all have been having an awesome summer. I been quite busy with just spending a lot of quality time with my family. Recently I redid my boys room and I am absolutely in LOVE with how it has turned out. I am not an interior designer but like most I get my inspirations from Pinterest.  For months I have been wanting to redo the kids room but was not sure what I wanted to do exactly. My boys whom are 2 and 7 are obsess with Cars & Planes.
The theme they originally had in the room had a Transportation theme but a little babyish in my opinion. So when redoing the room I wanted to update it in the sense that my now 7 year old will feel like its cool and age appropriate for him being that he is sharing a room with his 2 year old brother.  I didn't want to spend a ton of money on the make over and wanted to keep all cost as low as possible.

I purchased a wooden picture from the clearance section in Target that became the inspiration for the room. My oldest son absolutely love the picture so I knew it would be perfect. It had a red vintage car on it and it was just rustic yet modern. I then found sheets that went perfect but they were so expensive and I couldn't see my self paying $59 for sheets. So after almost 2 months passing by I rechecked the sheets and they were on clearance. I was so excited that I immediately put them in my cart but of course it was not going to be that easy. I not only needed sheets for my sons twin bed but I also needed crib sheets to fit my little guys bed and of course the same ones I wanted were sold out in the crib sheet. I'm so happy they were sold out because then I fell in love with a different set for my little guys bed. So thank you Pottery Barn for stressing me out and helping me find the theme for my boys room. So I went with vintage cars and vintage planes for the boys room. Not only did I get the sheets on clearance but I also got an extra 20% off. I was super HAPPY and it was my first time ordering some fancy sheets for my kids at a STEAL!!! Worth the wait and purchase. lol

I then found most of my decor pieces at Hobby Lobby! I happen to walk in on the right day. All there wood and metal decor was 50% off. I seriously could not believe that everything I picked up was $4.99 each. Seriously what a STEAL! I also went in to Big Lots just to look and picked up these awesome Marque Stars that were on clearance with an Extra 50% off on top of that. I had been on a hunt for these stars forever and I could not justify to spend money on them. I was literally on a roll. Last stop was choosing the paint. When choosing the paint I wanted something light and fresh looking. I love all the grey tones but there are just so many to choose from. I used the current curtains in the boys room to help. I went with a super light grey color since the curtains were already a darker shade of grey (Lowes matched a Benjamin Moore shade called FullMoon for me).

After a few months of back and fourth and trying to figure out how to redo this room I have to say its probably my favorite room in our home. My kids love it. You don't need a lot of money or a lot of new decor to redo a room. I only purchase a few things and still used a lot of the stuff I already had in the room.
