Summer Fun!
So now that school has been out for about a month I been trying to keep my kids busy with activities during the day that won't break the bank. I'm on such a tight budget being that I am a SAHM and only have one source of income so I have to keep that in mind when doing things during the week. Lucky for us my parents have a pool so we have definitely been enjoying pool days at Mama and Papa's house this summer.
I signed up My oldest for free bowling (kidsbowlfree.com). He gets to bowl 2 free games on any day during the week which I thought is great. I also researched different parks around the area that may have free spray parks (www.monmouthcountyparks.com) or even free mini zoos. There are a few in my surrounding areas so we have been able to enjoy those as well. Another fun place that does not break the bank is Keansburg Amusemnet Park. My son loves that place. They have 2 different sections and the prices are reasonable. I especially like going there during the weekday because it's not crowded, making it easier to walk around and no waiting in lines for the kids. So usually after dinner we head out for about an hour and a half and he has a blast. We've also been going a lot to Sesame Place (www.sesameplace.com) which can be pricy. In our case we bought season passes last year when they had the promtion of buy the season pass and get an additional year free. So our passes have been paid since last year which we did a monthly payment but they were good for all of 2014 and 2015. Plus free parking and discounts on food and merchandise.
I've also looked up free activites at Barnes and Noble and also at our local library where they offer story time, arts and crafts and even family movie nights. There are so many things that you can do with the kids and stay on budget. So do a little research of what is offered in your town, city or surrounding area and get out there and enjoy the rest of summer because before you know they will be back in school.
